The parade is traditionally scheduled for the first Monday evening in December and travels through the Rogers Historic District. The theme for this year’s parade is “A Dicken’s Christmas.”

Judges will select four first place winners in the following categories:

SPECTACULAR SPARKLES Award - Any entry that presents an outstanding display of lights and/or other type of illumination.

ELFIN MAGIC Award - An outstanding entry featuring children as part of the entry.

GLORY OF ANGELS Award - An outstanding entry that illustrates a religious theme.

KNOCK YOUR STOCKINGS OFF Award - This award is given to the overall outstanding entry illustrating the parade theme: “A Dicken’s Christmas.”

Floats and decorated vehicles MUST include lots of Christmas Lights, as this is a night time event. Walking/Marching units are also encouraged to use Christmas Lights if possible. Also, for the safety of small children, please do not throw candy from a float or vehicle. If you would like to hand out candy, please plan to have someone walking beside or behind your entry to hand it out to those in the audience.

Communities throughout the nation are making preparations for the 2010 Census. An accurate census is of the utmost importance to our community since our population often dictates federal, state and other dollars and initiatives available to Rogers and, in turn, our progress on needs such as infrastructure, public safety, roads, education and economic development.

Mayor Womack has designated this as a priority for Rogers, and the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Janet Foster in the Mayor’s Office to create a Rogers Complete Count Committee. Attendees representing all sectors of the community are invited to attend.

Romantically attached, they continue to exchange letters through the boarding school and college years—where Andy goes on to excel at Yale and law school, while Melissa flunks out of a series of “good schools.” While Andy is off at war Melissa marries someone else, but her attachment to Andy remains strong and she continues to keep in touch as he marries, becomes a successful attorney, gets involved in politics and, eventually, is elected to the U.S. Senate. Meanwhile, her marriage in tatters, Melissa dabbles in art and gigolos, drinks more that she should, and becomes estranged from her children. Eventually she and Andy do become involved in a brief affair, but it is really too late for both of them. However Andy’s last letter, written to her mother after Melissa’s untimely death, make it eloquently clear how much they really meant, and gave to, each other over the years—physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.

A Year with Frog & Toad Saturday, January 16, 2010 Baum Walker Hall Arnold Lobel's beloved characters hop from the page to the stage in Robert and Wille Reale's musical A Year with Frog & Toad. Developed by Mr. Lobel's daughter, Adrianne Lobel, the stage musical remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad, through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, they proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing the things that make each of us different and special. Best for ages 4 and up.

The "It's Great to Skate" clinic welcomes potential skaters to a day filled with fun, learning, and entertainment for free. The clinic will allow young and old to get out to experience ice skating and learn the "basics" from professional instructors in a fun-filled environment. There will be exhibitions ,free classes, goodies and information available at the clinic put on by the Ozark Figure Skating Club and US Figure Skating. It will be held Saturday,January 16th 2010 9am-1:30pm at The Jones Center's Joel Carver Ice Arena.
