Samantha R. is a Junior at Kansas State University. She's a marketing major and joins us this summer as an intern in our marketing department. "This summer, Samantha will work on key projects developing marketing plans and communications strategies," says Lisa E., marketing director. "These projects will allow her to gain hands-on experience in campaign development, audience targeting, and message crafting." In addition to working closely with several mentors in our marketing department, she'll have opportunities to network with others inside and outside of INTRUST. Over the next 12 weeks, we hope she'll gain valuable experience she can carry with her through senior year and into the workforce. Welcome, Samantha!

#ValuesHiredHere means we look for candidates who naturally display character and commitment because we believe a focus on values contributes to a healthy and positive work culture. A few years ago, we asked INTRUST employees if they’d help us bring this concept to life. These fun, blue-background photos we've been sharing are the results. These employees still work here today, along with many more across Kansas, Northwest Arkansas, and Oklahoma, and we’re incredibly grateful they do.

“It’s an environment that allows employees to focus less on standardized learning and more on building trust and relationships.” That’s Jen M., employee relations supervisor, speaking about a development opportunity she created and co-facilitates called Manager Round Tables — monthly learning sessions for INTRUST managers and assistant managers that are informal, voluntary, and virtual. That last part is important, she says. “When you’re physically in a room with people, there’s pressure,” Jen explains. “A virtual space can sometimes feel safer for participants, particularly newer managers, especially when we’re talking through managerial scenarios.” The format is popular with attendees because it’s conversational and relevant, using role play and scenario work to guide managers through conflict resolution centered on respect and compassion. It's also short in length, banking center managers don’t need to leave their banking centers, and it helps bring together supervisors and managers from across our markets. “It’s not lost on us as an HR department that we have working managers,” says Jen. “They run teller lines, write loans, visit with customers — they’re busy. When we want to engage them in learning, it matters we meet them where they are for whatever amount of time they can spare.”

Dan Heinz, chief relationship officer, was recently interviewed by the Wichita Business Journal (WBJ), adding insight into an article accompanying the Wichita-area Commercial Lenders list which featured INTRUST at number two. For more than 145 years, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with local individuals and their companies to bring their expansion plans to life. It requires attentive service on our part, working individually with each customer to ensure we thoroughly understand their vision and help them consider myriad short- and long-term economic factors that could impact their plans. We consider this values-based banking, and it’s been our tradition since our founding. https://bizj.us/1ql7qr

Jennifer D., banking center manager - Edmond, recently graduated from Leadership Edmond. Leadership Edmond is a nine-month development program designed to provide community leaders with a deeper understanding of critical issues affecting the Edmond area through an inside look at the community. "This was a rewarding experience that allowed me to meet fellow leaders in my community, visit with city officials to discuss the issues facing Edmond and learn about the many offerings that are available," Jennifer says. "I made some very valuable connections and feel truly honored to have had this opportunity." Leadership Edmond provided participants the opportunity to engage in a mock city council, serve as principal for a day, and meet with state elected officials. Congratulations, Jennifer!
